Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential financial technology firm seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to join their investor-focused solutions team in Edinburgh. In this role, you will:
- Collaborate across functions with product owners, designers, go-to-market teams, program managers, researchers, and engineering colleagues to deliver client-focused solutions
- Conceive, develop, and deliver innovative solutions within a sophisticated financial domain, building your expertise in a challenging and growing sector
- Build applications across multiple product areas, bridging shared concerns for institutional clients with an investor-centric viewpoint
- Work on web applications, big data platforms, and AI-first tools that empower investment professionals
What We're Looking For
- Extensive professional software engineering experience building web applications
- Proficiency in Python and understanding of common Python libraries
- Strong knowledge of HTTP, REST, and web API best practices
- Solid experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
- Experience with databases and data lakes: SQL, NoSQL, and modern data platforms
- Proficiency with React, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS
- Experience with AI agentic coding
- Experience with Java backends is a plus
- Strong ownership mentality and drive to solve critical problems
- Rapid learning ability with robust analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfort working with product management on complex features
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Must have and maintain the right to work in the United Kingdom from day one of employment; visa sponsorship is not available for this position
