Senior Rates Developer – Java

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential financial services organization seeking a Senior Rates Developer to join their Global Markets Technology practice in London. This is a 12-month contract position within a specialist team responsible for delivering pricing, electronic trading, and risk capabilities across rates and FX products.

Our client operates a high-performance trading technology environment where you'll work on low-latency, highly available pricing components supporting forwards, futures, swaps, bond products, and algorithmic execution workflows. This is a hands-on engineering role ideal for developers with deep expertise in capital markets technology.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with quantitative analysts and traders to gather requirements and refine technical solutions for rates and FX pricing systems
• Enhance pricing infrastructure supporting derivatives and cash products, including STP workflows
• Develop pricing control features such as price tiering, interpolation, curve adjustments, sanity checks, and derived crossing logic
• Build and maintain e-pricing infrastructure for on-demand quoting and curve management across electronic commerce channels
• Integrate quantitative models and market data feeds into the pricing platform
• Produce detailed technical designs and implement high-quality Java server-side components using industry-standard patterns
• Build simulation and back-testing environments; investigate regression issues as needed
• Conduct automated unit, integration, and performance testing before user acceptance testing
• Deploy components across development, test, and pre-production environments
• Ensure removal of open-source and cyber vulnerabilities, maintaining strong risk and control governance
• Participate in intraday or overnight support rotation when required

What We're Looking For

• Strong server-side Java development experience, including multithreading capabilities
• Proven experience building global, distributed systems in real-time trading environments (24x5.5 operations)
• Direct experience developing rates or FX pricing systems for electronic trading or eCommerce platforms
• Knowledge of kdb+/q database technology
• Python experience is advantageous
• Expertise in low-latency tuning, concurrent programming, and distributed design patterns
• Experience with testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments
• Valid UK work authorization is mandatory for this role

Pay
