About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential engineering software consultancy in the United Kingdom. Our client is seeking a Senior NX CAD Application Engineer to serve as a trusted technical partner to leading engineering organizations, helping them solve complex design challenges and maximize their investment in digital engineering solutions.
This is a permanent position ideal for an experienced NX professional ready to move beyond traditional CAD support into a role with greater technical ownership, customer responsibility, and involvement in digital transformation initiatives including automation and AI adoption.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior subject matter expert for Siemens NX CAD and industry best practices
- Explore and leverage AI to develop solutions that improve engineering workflows and customer outcomes
- Contribute to automation and customization initiatives using NX Open, journaling, scripting, and related technologies
- Support presales activities including discovery sessions, technical presentations, demonstrations, solution definition, and proposals
- Take technical ownership of customer engagements, coordinating activities and ensuring successful project outcomes
- Collaborate with specialists across PLM, software development, simulation, manufacturing, and AI to deliver comprehensive solutions
- Build trusted relationships with customers, understanding their engineering challenges and proactively identifying solutions
- Deliver high-quality NX CAD consulting services and technical training
- Mentor and support other engineers working on NX-related projects
What We're Looking For
Essential qualifications:
- 10+ years of industrial experience working with Siemens NX CAD, including product design, configuration, and environment administration
- Interest in applying AI and emerging technologies to engineering and product development workflows
- Experience working directly with customers or internal stakeholders in consulting, application engineering, technical support, or similar capacity
- Ability to troubleshoot complex problems beyond standard user-level functionality
- Strong sense of ownership with ability to take customer problems from initial discussion through resolution
- Experience leading technical activities, work packages, or customer projects
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build credibility with technical specialists and customer stakeholders
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites when required
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with NX Open, NX journaling, or NX automation/customization
- Scripting or programming experience with Python, TCL, C#, C++, or similar technologies
- Exposure to Teamcenter or other PLM systems from an NX user or power-user perspective
- Experience with NX CAM, NX Post Builder, Siemens Post Configurator, or related manufacturing tools
- Experience with Solid Edge or other commercial CAD platforms
- Background delivering or supporting design automation solutions
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical teams
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing or other advanced manufacturing technologies
