Senior Manager, Security Architecture

Responsibilities

Our talent team is representing a confidential SaaS organization in their search for a Senior Manager, Security Architecture based in Manchester. This is a pivotal leadership role building and directing a formal security architecture practice from the ground up.

In this position, you will:

• Lead the security architecture practice, defining review processes, scope, timing, and standards for the organization
• Own and develop reusable security patterns including reference architectures, identity and authorization frameworks, cryptography standards, and AI security guardrails
• Establish security engineering principles that shape platform development and remain practical for engineering teams
• Conduct architecture and design reviews for high-risk platform changes and AI initiatives, engaging early enough to influence direction
• Partner directly with platform engineering teams to ensure architecture reflects real-world implementation
• Ensure security architecture meets enterprise and regulated environment requirements
• Translate architecture decisions into enforceable, version-controlled guardrails where appropriate
• Build, develop, and mentor the architecture team through hiring, coaching, and performance management

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven track record building or leading security architecture in SaaS or cloud-native environments across multiple teams
• Deep expertise in identity and authorization, cryptography, secure-by-design principles, and threat modeling at scale
• Sufficient technical depth to evaluate and challenge architectural designs on their technical merits
• People leadership experience including hiring, coaching, and performance calibration of senior technical teams
• Experience aligning architecture to enterprise and regulated environments
• Clear understanding of how AI technologies impact security architecture, including identity, authorization, supply-chain integrity, and guardrail requirements

Preferred qualifications:

• Familiarity with AI security standards such as NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, MITRE ATLAS, or OWASP LLM Top 10
• Hands-on experience with policy-as-code and enforcement automation
• Contributions to security standards, frameworks, or industry practices
