Senior Manager, Security Architecture

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential enterprise SaaS organization based in London that is building a formal security architecture practice from the ground up. This is a senior leadership role that will shape how secure-by-design becomes the default across a complex, multi-engine platform with growing AI capabilities. You will lead a team responsible for establishing reference architectures, identity and authorization patterns, cryptography standards, and AI guardrail designs that engineering teams adopt naturally rather than work around.

This role reports to the Director of Product Security and carries both deep technical scope and people leadership responsibility. You will own the security architecture surface across legacy and modern calculation engines, plus an expanding AI product line that includes conversational planning and AI-assisted model building capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and define the security architecture practice, including establishing review processes, cadence, scope, and technical standards
• Own and maintain reusable security patterns: reference architectures, identity and authorization frameworks, cryptography standards, and AI guardrail designs
• Set and document security engineering principles that are both technically rigorous and usable for product teams
• Conduct architecture and design reviews for high-risk platform and AI feature changes, engaging early enough to influence outcomes
• Partner directly with platform engineering teams to ensure architecture reflects real-world system behavior across multiple calculation engines
• Ensure security architecture meets enterprise and regulatory compliance requirements for large-scale customers
• Translate architecture decisions into enforceable, version-controlled policy-as-code where it reduces friction
• Hire, coach, calibrate, and mentor a senior architecture team while maintaining a consistent technical bar

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Proven track record building or leading security architecture in SaaS or cloud-native environments, with scope across multiple engineering teams
• Deep technical credibility in identity and authorization, cryptography, secure-by-design principles, and threat modeling at scale
• Sufficient hands-on technical depth to challenge weak designs on their technical merits; this role requires ongoing technical credibility, not purely managerial oversight
• People leadership experience: hiring, coaching, and calibrating senior team members, including making difficult performance decisions
• Experience aligning security architecture to enterprise and regulated customer environments
• Clear, pragmatic understanding of how AI changes the architecture surface, including identity, authorization, supply-chain integrity, and guardrail requirements

Nice to Have:

• Working familiarity with AI security standards and frameworks such as NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, MITRE ATLAS, or OWASP LLM Top 10
• Hands-on experience with policy-as-code tooling and translating standards into enforced controls
• Contributions to security standards, frameworks, or industry practice
