Wabtec is seeking a Senior Lead Engineer, System Engineering to join our Bengaluru, KA, IN office on a full-time basis. In this pivotal role, you'll drive the architectural vision and technical execution of critical system initiatives that power transportation and mobility solutions globally.
Position Summary
As Senior Lead Engineer, System Engineering at Wabtec, you'll take ownership of complex system design, integration, and delivery for mission-critical projects. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll combine deep technical expertise with strategic thinking to shape how our systems evolve. You'll work at the intersection of requirements, architecture, and implementation, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards of reliability, scalability, and performance across transportation platforms.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and architect system solutions that address complex technical and business requirements
- Lead the definition of system requirements, specifications, and interface control documents for major initiatives
- Oversee system integration activities, ensuring seamless interaction between hardware, firmware, and software components
- Drive technical reviews and assessments to validate system design decisions against established criteria
- Guide cross-functional engineering teams through the full system development lifecycle
- Establish and maintain system engineering standards, processes, and best practices across programmes
- Collaborate with product management, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to deliver solutions on time and within specification
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous learning within the Bengaluru team
Who We're Looking For
- 10+ years of professional engineering experience, with at least 5 years in system engineering or closely related roles
- Proven expertise in system architecture, design, and integration methodologies
- Strong background in requirements management and technical specification development
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and managing complex project work streams
- Proficiency with system engineering tools, modelling languages, or documentation frameworks
- Deep understanding of embedded systems, control systems, or transportation technology domains
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent professional qualification
