Senior Infrastructure & Network Engineer – Germany

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential renewable energy technology organization seeking a Senior Infrastructure & Network Engineer to join their Munich-based IT team. In this role, you will:

• Manage daily operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of data center infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and virtualization platforms across European locations
• Optimize enterprise network services, focusing on routing, resilience, performance, capacity planning, and high-availability architectures
• Take ownership of Munich office connectivity infrastructure, including switches, wireless networks, firewalls, VPNs, internet services, and collaboration technology
• Lead technical troubleshooting, incident response, and root-cause analysis for complex infrastructure challenges, implementing sustainable corrective measures
• Drive modernization initiatives, expansion projects, migrations, disaster recovery planning, and technology refresh cycles
• Enhance security posture and operational excellence through comprehensive documentation, change management processes, vulnerability remediation, and standardized procedures

What We're Looking For

Our client needs an experienced infrastructure professional with at least three years of enterprise network and infrastructure engineering experience, plus:

• Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
• Hands-on expertise with Fortinet firewalls, SD-WAN, Cisco Firepower FTD, Cisco Nexus 9000, and Cisco enterprise switching environments
• Strong knowledge of routing, switching, and security technologies including BGP, OSPF, VRF, ACLs, QoS, STP, NAT, link aggregation, and high-availability design
• Operational experience with VMware, Nutanix, and KVM virtualization platforms; familiarity with VMware NSX-T security capabilities is valued
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus, and Grafana
• Scripting and automation skills using Python, Shell, PowerShell, or Perl
• Structured problem-solving approach with proactive capacity planning, service improvement mindset, and documentation discipline
• English proficiency at C1 level; German at B2 level is advantageous; Mandarin Chinese at B2 level or above is a strong advantage for global team collaboration
• Relevant certifications such as VMware VCP, CCNA, CCNP, Microsoft Azure Administrator, ITIL Foundation, Fortinet NSE, or Nutanix Certified Professional are welcome
