Engineering Manager, Rapid Response Assignment (UK)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cybersecurity organization seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their Rapid Response teams across multiple regions. This is a 100% remote role based in Cheltenham, UK. You'll manage distributed engineering teams that provide around-the-clock support for urgent customer needs, pre-sales requests, and platform maintenance.

This position sits at the critical intersection of Engineering, Customer Success, and Sales. You'll be responsible for managing senior engineers across the US, UK, and APAC regions, ensuring continuous follow-the-sun coverage while balancing urgent reactive work with strategic long-term priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop engineering teams distributed across US, UK, and APAC time zones, providing hands-on leadership, coaching, and career development
• Set and balance priorities across urgent pre-sales requests, critical customer issues, feature requests, and backend maintenance work
• Ensure continuous, follow-the-sun coverage for urgent customer and pre-sales needs across all regions
• Partner closely with Customer Success and Sales leadership to translate customer and deal-critical needs into engineering plans
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to integrate customer-driven work into the broader platform roadmap
• Maintain engineering quality standards including code quality, root-cause analysis practices, and sustainable long-term solutions
• Drive hiring, onboarding, and performance management across all three regional teams
• Establish and refine on-call, escalation, and incident response processes
• Report on team health, throughput, and customer outcomes to engineering and company leadership
• Remove blockers and make credible technical decisions under pressure

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience managing software engineers, ideally across distributed or multi-region teams
• Experience in cybersecurity, vulnerability management, or threat intelligence
• Prior experience as a senior or staff software engineer with strong technical credibility
• Experience managing customer-facing, support, sustaining, or reliability engineering teams
• Proven ability to prioritize competing demands including urgent customer issues, pre-sales requests, and long-term maintenance work
• Experience managing teams across multiple time zones with strong asynchronous communication skills
• Solid understanding of backend systems, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
• Customer-focused mindset with a track record of delivering strong customer outcomes
• Excellent communication skills across technical and business stakeholders

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior experience managing customer reliability, sustaining, support, or escalation engineering functions
• Familiarity with CVE, NVD, KEV, or exploit intelligence datasets
• Experience supporting pre-sales or deal-critical technical requests
• Background in high-growth or startup environments
• Experience with data pipelines, ETL systems, or high-volume data processing
