Okta Architect

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential enterprise technology organisation seeking an Okta Architect based in London. In this role, you will define the target identity architecture and integration patterns, ensuring a secure, scalable identity platform. This is a retained architecture position where you set the standards that engineering teams and managed service partners build to.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Designing the Okta architecture, tenancy model and integration patterns for a complex, multi-brand environment
• Setting standards for SSO, MFA, lifecycle management and API access management
• Assuring complex integrations and partner-delivered designs meet security and resilience requirements
• Embedding zero-trust and security-by-design principles into the identity platform
• Advising the product owner on platform direction and roadmap priorities
• Establishing architecture, patterns and guardrails that managed service partners implement and operate within
• Acting as design authority and approval gate for partner architecture decisions
• Assuring that all changes meet organisational security, resilience and standards

What We're Looking For

Our client requires deep expertise in identity and access management at enterprise scale. You should bring:

• Expert-level Okta architecture and identity-platform design experience
• Strong knowledge of federation, SCIM, OAuth/OIDC and API access management
• Zero-trust and identity-security architecture capabilities
• Integration design skills across complex application estates
• Architecture documentation and design-authority experience
• Recognised architecture experience in the relevant domain at enterprise scale
• Relevant architecture or platform certifications such as TOGAF or vendor architect tracks
• Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience

The successful candidate will be able to set target architecture, standards and design patterns for the domain. You must design for security, scale, resilience and total cost of ownership while influencing engineering and vendor teams without direct authority. The role requires balancing strategic ambition with pragmatic, deliverable decisions and staying current with platform direction and emerging capability.
