Senior/ Principal Engineer – Electrical Building Services (Contract)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential engineering consultancy with a strong portfolio across regulated sectors. As a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer on contract, you will:

• Deliver electrical building services design and consultancy under the direction of project leads across nuclear, defence, and critical infrastructure environments
• Produce engineering outputs including drawings, specifications, and technical reports while supporting construction stages and site surveys
• Liaise with clients and multi-disciplinary design teams to develop safe, efficient, and buildable solutions for heavily-regulated projects
• Review calculations and detailed drawings to ensure compliance with quality standards and client expectations
• Support project delivery from early design through to operational stages, maintaining awareness of CDM requirements and technical assurance processes
• Manage project costing and ensure progress against project briefs in technically challenging, safety-critical environments

What We're Looking For

Qualifications & Clearance

• Chartered Engineer status (CEng CIBSE or CEng IET) or actively working towards chartership
• Eligible to obtain and maintain SC security clearance at minimum—additional nationality or residency criteria may apply for certain projects

Technical Skills & Experience

• Substantial experience in electrical design, technical detailing, and specification writing for building services
• Working knowledge of BIM Level 2 delivery processes
• Proficiency with Navisworks, AutoCAD, NBS, and Amtech/Trimble; exposure to Electrical OM is advantageous
• Proven track record working in integrated, multi-discipline design teams
• Familiarity with technical assurance, quality processes, and compliance in regulated environments

Professional Capabilities

• Confidence producing high-quality designs with the ability to carry out independent technical checks
• Strong commercial awareness with ability to identify and escalate risks appropriately
• Solid understanding of project delivery and people management principles

Positions are available across London, Warwick, Manchester, and Derby. Projects span the full lifecycle from feasibility through to detailed design and site monitoring, offering exposure to complex power supply systems requiring high resilience.
