Senior Footwear Designer (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing footwear brand based in Hamburg that has scaled to over one million customers in just four years. Our client is entering their next growth phase, expanding their product portfolio and establishing themselves as a strong international presence in the footwear market.

They need a Senior Footwear Designer who thinks beyond trends—someone who can anticipate what comes next, translate cultural movements into commercial products, and build a distinctive design language that resonates with their customer base.

This is not a role where you'll execute someone else's vision. Our talent team is seeking a designer whose best ideas will shape the future collections.

Responsibilities

• Develop new footwear concepts, models, and collections from initial idea through final design
• Translate fashion, consumer, and cultural trends into commercially relevant products
• Create silhouettes, colorways, materials, details, sole concepts, and overall design frameworks
• Build seasonal creative directions, moodboards, color and material stories, and collection concepts
• Continuously analyze international runways, brands, retailers, social media, and street style movements
• Develop and evolve a distinctive design DNA and visual product language
• Produce professional sketches, renderings, and design specifications for product development
• Collaborate closely with product development, technical teams, sourcing, and merchandising from concept to production
• Evaluate and refine samples with focus on design, proportions, materials, colors, and details
• Use sales data, customer feedback, and market insights to evolve bestsellers and identify new product opportunities
• Travel internationally for trend research, trade shows, market visits, and supplier collaboration

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience as a Footwear Designer or Senior Footwear Designer, ideally with a relevant fashion, footwear, lifestyle, or consumer brand
• Strong portfolio demonstrating realized, commercially successful footwear products
• Exceptional instinct for silhouettes, proportions, colors, materials, and details
• Deep understanding of current footwear, fashion, lifestyle, and consumer trends
• Ability to interpret trends rather than copy them, developing an original and commercially viable design language
• Experience developing complete collections, seasonal concepts, and product families
• Thorough understanding of the entire footwear development process from design through sampling to production
• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and relevant design tools; experience with 3D and AI-based design workflows is a strong plus
• Commercial acumen—ability to balance creativity, customer needs, and sales potential
• Experience working directly with product development teams, factories, and international production partners
• High visual standards combined with speed in development and execution
• Strong initiative and clear creative point of view
• High willingness to travel internationally for trend research, trade shows, and supplier visits
• Excellent English skills; German is advantageous
