Senior Director of People Operations

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Senior Director of People Operations to lead critical people infrastructure during an exciting period of growth and transformation. This is a rare opportunity to shape how a scaling organization leverages technology, data, and streamlined processes to support a global workforce.

Based in Cardiff with flexible UK remote working options, this senior leadership role will report directly to the VP of Reward & People Operations. You'll own and drive strategy across People Technology, People Analytics & Insights, Global Mobility, and People Operations & Payroll—leading talented teams through a major HRIS implementation (Workday), accelerating AI adoption, and supporting international expansion.

Responsibilities

• Create and champion a multi-year People Operations and Technology strategy aligned with business objectives, delivering seamless processes at scale
• Set and drive the AI strategy across the People function, leading cross-functional AI project squads
• Navigate governance frameworks and executive stakeholder management, enabling teams to focus on execution
• Act as a thought leader on industry best practices, driving automation, continuous improvement, and digital transformation across all people touchpoints
• Mature people analytics capabilities, ensuring high-quality insights and predictive analytics support evidence-based leadership decisions
• Collaborate with team leads to manage strategic vendor relationships and optimize commercial budgets for tech solutions and operational partners
• Champion strong governance, control frameworks, and auditable processes across payroll, mobility, and systems to ensure data integrity and compliance with local employment laws
• Oversee the review and optimization of global payroll infrastructure and operations
• Lead and develop four direct reports: People Operations & Payroll Lead, Head of People Technology, Global Mobility Lead, and a People Analytics & Insights Specialist (new role to hire)

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience designing and leading People Operations and Technology strategies at scale in complex, matrixed organizations
• Deep expertise in People infrastructure—payroll cycles, global mobility frameworks, and enterprise HRIS ecosystems (ideally with direct Workday implementation or governance experience)
• Proven ability to move seamlessly between high-level organizational design and hands-on execution
• Collaborative, consultative leadership style with expert stakeholder management skills, comfortable partnering with VP and C-suite executives
• Strong knowledge of GDPR, data privacy laws, localized payroll regulations, and international employment compliance
• Inspiring people leader who enables and supports technical experts and SMEs, fostering continuous development and improved ways of working
• Desirable (not mandatory) experience with systems such as Hibob, Workday, Greenhouse, Lattice, Peakon, Globalshares, Pave, or Looker
