Advisor Procurement Manager (f/m/d) – Cloud

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential European cloud infrastructure provider in their search for an Advisor Procurement Manager – Cloud based in Berlin. Our client operates their own data centers and hardware infrastructure, where procured equipment often goes live in racks within weeks to serve customer workloads. This isn't a typical purchasing role – they need a cloud procurement professional who understands technological demand before it materializes, analyzes capacity data to determine optimal ordering schedules, negotiates favorable terms, and maintains audit-ready supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

• Apply strategic IT procurement expertise with strong focus on data center hardware procurement (beyond software licenses)
• Read and evaluate technical specifications and bills of materials; discuss requirements directly with engineering teams
• Leverage data-driven analysis of utilization and demand metrics to optimize procurement timing and volumes
• Demonstrate deep understanding of cloud licensing and consumption models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
• Measure success through documented savings, process cycle times, delivery reliability, and contract compliance
• Lead complex RFP processes and conduct sophisticated vendor negotiations with proven track record of results
• Maintain transparent supplier registry and collaborate closely with information security and data privacy teams
• Ensure compliance mindset across all procurement activities

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven experience in strategic IT procurement, ideally focused on data center hardware rather than exclusively software
• Technical capability to evaluate configurations and engage with engineering on equal footing
• Strong analytical skills with experience working with capacity and demand data
• Demonstrated success managing complex RFPs and conducting challenging negotiations
• Understanding of why transparent supplier registers are essential for compliance
• Fluent German and English at negotiation level

Preferred experience:

• Working with data center suppliers (OEMs, distributors, system integrators)
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as BSI C5, ISO 27001, IT-Grundschutz, TISAX, or DORA
• Industry knowledge in public sector or highly regulated customer segments
