Operational Tax, Senior Manager

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential financial services organization seeking an Operational Tax Senior Manager to join their growing tax team in Cardiff. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll own all customer-facing tax obligations and reporting across UK and European operations.

In this position, you will:

• Serve as the subject matter expert on operational tax matters, advising business stakeholders and ensuring compliance as the organization expands into new markets
• Lead compliance processes and controls across multiple jurisdictions, including BBSI, ISA reporting, FATCA and CRS, Corporate Criminal Offence obligations, and CT61s, plus overseas equivalents
• Build and maintain new processes and controls as product offerings and market presence evolve
• Partner with product teams from inception to embed tax considerations into product design, establish appropriate reporting frameworks, and test edge cases
• Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, and case law across the UK and EU, translating updates into actionable compliance steps
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, financial crime, engineering, legal, and finance to resolve tax-related challenges
• Report to the Tax Governance Lead and help shape the organization's tax strategy in a rapidly growing environment

What We're Looking For

Our client needs someone who combines technical tax expertise with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, CPA) and/or qualified tax advisor (CTA, ATT), or equivalent qualification through significant relevant experience
• Substantial in-house experience working in operational tax, preferably within financial services
• Comfort working independently and taking ownership of complex tax workstreams
• A hands-on, energetic approach to problem-solving and willingness to tackle whatever needs doing
• Strong attention to detail and methodical approach to process management
• Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to translate technical tax concepts for non-tax audiences
• Experience building tax processes and controls from the ground up as products or markets expand
