About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential energy technology client in their search for a Senior Data Analyst to join their growing commercial analytics function. This is a hands-on role embedded within the commercial team, working directly on the metrics that drive business performance—conversion rates, contracted volume, sales totals, and margins.
You'll report to an Analytics Manager while working day-to-day with commercial stakeholders. This isn't about building dashboards in isolation; it's about turning ambiguous commercial questions into clear analytical frameworks and delivering insights that change decisions.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the sales pipeline and forecast accuracy against annual targets, resolving overlap or duplication in revenue tracking
- Define and maintain commercial metrics standards across the team, ensuring stakeholders have data they understand and trust
- Diagnose and resolve CRM data quality issues that impact pipeline reliability, including complex account hierarchy structures
- Conduct commercial opportunity sizing and partner performance analysis to support sales and leadership decisions
- Identify underperformance, emerging trends, and pipeline risks before they become visible in top-line numbers
- Translate complex retention, renewal, and margin analysis into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders
- Partner directly with commercial and sales teams to align on metric definitions and increase self-service data adoption
What We're Looking For
Must-haves:
- Strong SQL skills with experience investigating complex datasets in modern analytics stacks (e.g., dbt, BI tools)
- Commercial acumen and ability to connect analytical findings to revenue and margin outcomes
- Experience developing forecasts or scenario models and explaining variance from actuals to stakeholders
- Proven ability to turn ambiguous questions into well-defined analytical problems and present recommendations clearly to senior audiences
- Track record building trusted metrics from messy or inconsistent source data (CRM, transactional systems)
Bonus points:
- Background in energy, fintech, or other commercially complex, data-intensive sectors
- Python proficiency for statistical analysis or data quality work
- Experience building metric frameworks that link operational activity to commercial outcomes
- Familiarity with CRM systems and parent-child account hierarchy data structures
