Senior Applied Scientist – Behavior AI

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential security technology organization in Paris that is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to build AI-based anomaly detection models for high-throughput stream processing. In this role, you will:

• Design and build custom models optimized for processing billions of records per second in real time, with a focus on cost efficiency and performance at scale
• Optimize models end-to-end by working across mathematics and systems, often finding mathematical reformulations that better fit hardware and software constraints
• Build training data pipelines from raw streams to training-ready datasets when they do not already exist
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate models into production, with clear focus on GPU utilization, latency, and cost per record on live traffic
• Plan the roadmap of model and system improvements based on a solid understanding of the product and user needs
• Build an agentic layer on top of models to analyze, validate, and act on their outputs
• Create lightweight interpretability tools that make model behavior easier to explain to security analysts and detection engineers
• Maintain and monitor models, services, and infrastructure, and participate in the team's on-call rotation

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking a senior-level applied scientist with deep expertise at the intersection of applied mathematics, software design, and implementation. The ideal candidate will have:

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, or a related scientific field, or equivalent experience
• Hands-on experience training and fine-tuning models at scale, and deploying them into production systems with real throughput and cost constraints
• Working knowledge of GPU architecture and a track record of making models run efficiently within real hardware constraints
• Strong applied-mathematics fundamentals and the ability to use them naturally when designing and optimizing models
• Real passion for applied mathematics, software design, and implementation—this role sits at the intersection of all three
• Care for code simplicity and performance, with ability to build data pipelines and surrounding production code in addition to the models themselves
• Ability to explain complex ideas and trade-offs clearly to engineers and product partners
• Bonus: experience with efficient sequence architectures, model interpretability, or large-scale streaming systems
