Experienced Spanish Interpreter (LATAM)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential language services organization seeking an experienced Spanish-English interpreter to join their remote team across Latin America. This role focuses on medical interpretation delivered via over-the-phone modalities, with a clear progression path to video interpretation for strong performers.

Our client provides critical communication support in healthcare, social services, and financial settings. You will deliver accurate consecutive interpretation that bridges vital conversations between English and Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, consecutive interpretation primarily in medical settings via over-the-phone channels
• Facilitate communication in social services and financial contexts as needed
• Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance during all interpretation sessions
• Demonstrate complete mastery of medical and customer service terminology
• Maintain a dedicated, quiet, and compliant home workspace
• Meet minimum weekly hour commitments while managing your own schedule

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 6 months to 1 year of professional experience in remote medical interpretation
• English proficiency at C1 level or higher, with valid certification from EF SET (4-Skill), TOEFL, or CAE
• Medical interpreter certification issued within the last 12 months (ALTA Spanish fluency minimum score 9, or LanguageStat/PICSI passing score 75–80%)
• Current or willingness to obtain HIPAA and FWA (Fraud, Waste, and Abuse) certifications
• Hardwired Ethernet internet connection (Wi-Fi is not acceptable)
• High-quality, noise-canceling USB headset
• Computer with minimum Windows 10 OS and 4GB RAM
• Latest version of Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Microsoft Edge browser
• Willingness to complete a standard background check
• Based in Bolivia or elsewhere in Latin America
