Senior Accountant (w/m/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential IT services organization seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team in Köln. In this role, you will independently manage core accounting operations and serve as a trusted partner for both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Managing ongoing financial accounting activities including transaction coding, posting, account reconciliation, and clarification
• Monitoring monthly intercompany reconciliations
• Recording and monitoring provisions, accruals, and other closing-relevant transactions
• Contributing to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under HGB standards
• Serving as the primary point of contact for auditors and other external stakeholders
• Conducting VAT pre-registrations and other statutory filings
• Actively participating in the optimization, development, and digitalization of accounting processes

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

• A completed business administration degree or commercial vocational training
• Strong knowledge of HGB accounting standards with proven experience preparing audited HGB financial statements and working confidently with auditors
• Several years of professional experience in general ledger accounting, ideally in a mid-sized or international environment with some group experience
• Proficiency with SAP S/4HANA and MS Office, particularly Excel
• Fluent communication skills in both German and English, with enthusiasm for an international environment
• A detail-oriented approach, enjoyment working with numbers, and a team-oriented, hands-on mentality
