Senior Accountant, UK

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential hospitality organization in their search for a Senior Accountant based in London. Our client is a fast-growing business operating across multiple locations, and they need an experienced accounting professional to bring structure, accuracy, and ownership to their UK finance function. This is an in-person role reporting to senior finance leadership, ideal for someone who thrives in detail-oriented, high-growth environments.

Responsibilities

Manage UK statutory and group reporting (UK GAAP & IFRS) and intercompany accounting

• Prepare timely, accurate and complete monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
• Research, calculate, and document areas of significant judgement and estimates, including emerging or complex accounting treatments
• Own intercompany journals and reconciliations between entities

Lead period-end close and maintain balance sheet integrity

• Perform period-end close of the general ledger, including preparation and posting of journal entries and accruals
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting schedules

Support day-to-day accounting operations and vendor payments

• Provide operational support, including reviewing invoices and resolving vendor issues
• Oversee timely and accurate vendor and expense payment processing in line with contractual terms and internal policies

Build and improve accounting policies, controls, and processes

• Develop and maintain documentation for key accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls
• Proactively evaluate and implement improvements to processes and procedures

Partner on tax and audit deliverables

• Liaise with internal and external partners to support timely preparation of quarterly and annual tax filings across multiple jurisdictions
• Support annual audit and quarterly review processes with external auditors

Deliver ad-hoc analysis and research

• Perform ad-hoc research and analysis using information from various systems

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a mix of public accounting and retail or hospitality environment in UK/Europe
• Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) required
• Strong understanding of both UK GAAP & IFRS accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system
• Experience with Coupa or similar billing and invoicing accounting software
• Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products, particularly Excel (VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables at a minimum)
• Ability to identify and solve problems and clearly communicate solutions
• Ability to work independently, own deliverable timelines and communicate workstream issues
• Team mindset with strong cross-functional communication skills
