Senior Accountant – Finanzbuchhalter:in (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential entertainment merchandise organization seeking a Senior Accountant (Finanzbuchhalter:in) to join their European finance team. This remote position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of finance and the music industry, managing accounting operations for a globally-operating business with European operations based in Berlin and Hamburg.

As Senior Accountant, you will play a central role in overseeing and continuously improving finance and accounting processes. Working closely with European management and a global finance organization, you will ensure accurate, timely financial close, reporting, compliance, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Central oversight and continuous improvement of accounting processes supporting European business operations
• Independent management of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
• Invoice review and payment processing
• Accounts receivable management and collections
• Preparation of VAT returns across all European countries in collaboration with international compliance partners
• Preparation and coordination of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB (German Commercial Code)
• Preparation and quality assurance of monthly financial reporting to parent organization
• Serve as central finance interface between European operations, management team, and global finance organization
• Ensure reliable internal controls, documentation, and consistently applied accounting standards
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities across finance functions
• Support continued development and effective use of NetSuite ERP system

What We're Looking For

• Completed commercial training, ideally as a tax clerk (Steuerfachangestellte:r) or financial accountant (Finanzbuchhalter:in), or equivalent qualification
• Several years of professional experience in an accounting role with significant ownership and responsibility
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting and financial statement preparation under HGB
• Experience with monthly and annual financial statements as well as financial and group reporting; IFRS knowledge is desirable
• Experience overseeing and improving accounting processes, ideally within an international business environment
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with international finance and management teams
• Experience with NetSuite or willingness to learn the system
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Good English skills for regular collaboration with global finance teams
• Comfort working with European VAT regulations, OSS (One Stop Shop), and withholding tax requirements
