Senior Accountant / Bilanzbuchhalter:in (m/w/d) – HGB & IFRS

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential software organization seeking a Senior Accountant to take ownership of their financial processes and ensure reliable, transparent reporting. Working directly with senior finance leadership, you will:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under HGB and IFRS standards, ensuring quality and completeness of financial data
• Perform valuations of provisions and inventory, ensuring proper period-end accruals and deferrals
• Prepare tax returns, manage VAT pre-registrations, and support tax audits
• Reconcile general and subsidiary ledgers and collaborate closely with internal and external auditors
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accurate recording, verification, and reconciliation of business transactions across accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger
• Contribute ideas for reducing routine work and optimizing finance processes through automation and AI tools, implementing improvements alongside finance leadership

What We're Looking For

• Minimum five years of accounting experience with responsibility for financial statement preparation
• Professional accounting qualification (Bilanzbuchhalter IHK) or equivalent commercial training with focus on finance and accounting; experience from tax advisory firms is a plus but not required
• Strong working knowledge of HGB and IFRS standards with demonstrated practical application
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with Sage 100 and Candis is advantageous
• Familiarity with AI tools in the workplace or strong interest in adopting them
• Fluent German for communication with tax advisors, authorities, and auditors; good English skills as the company operates in an international environment
• Self-directed work style with strong organizational skills, solution-oriented mindset, and ability to prioritize multiple concurrent responsibilities
• Desire to actively shape and develop your area of responsibility rather than simply maintaining existing processes
