Data Engineer (all genders)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential management consultancy with a strong analytics and cloud engineering practice. Our talent team is seeking a Data Engineer to join their international squad serving enterprise clients across multiple German cities and remote locations.

This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact data platform projects from scoping through production deployment, collaborating with cross-functional teams in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of data engineering projects end-to-end, from initial scoping and stakeholder alignment through to delivery of measurable business outcomes
• Design and implement data architectures for both batch and streaming workloads at various scales
• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP to support data platform requirements
• Build production-grade Python ETL/ELT pipelines using orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
• Work with data lake technologies and optimize OLAP data warehouses and lakehouses
• Model and manage data across SQL and NoSQL databases with a focus on performance and cost optimization
• Develop web APIs using Python frameworks like FastAPI and Flask, documented with OpenAPI/Swagger standards
• Automate deployments using Infrastructure-as-Code and container technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift

What We're Looking For

• Passionate data engineer who values both modern AI-driven technology and solid engineering craftsmanship
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, or GCP preferred)
• Track record of building production-grade software systems
• Strong Python development skills with emphasis on idiomatic, well-tested code
• Proficiency in performance tuning and optimization of relational databases through indexing, sharding, or partitioning
• Experience with data workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
• Competence with large-scale data processing and modern analytics stacks (Apache Spark, Snowflake, dbt, or similar)
• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, or equivalent)
• Excellent German language skills (C1 level) and conversational English
• Customer-focused, results-driven mindset with willingness to travel occasionally to client sites
