Renewable Energy Solar Development Director – Central Region

Ecoplexus is hiring a Renewable Energy Solar Development Director to lead utility-scale solar project development across the Central Region from our Jackson County, Mississippi office. This full-time leadership role offers the opportunity to drive renewable energy innovation and expand our clean energy portfolio in a rapidly growing organization.

Role Overview

As Renewable Energy Solar Development Director, you'll oversee the identification, evaluation, and advancement of utility-scale solar projects within your assigned Central Region territory. This hands-on leadership position combines project development expertise with strategic business growth, allowing you to shape the future of renewable energy across your region.

What You'll Do

• Lead the full development lifecycle for utility-scale solar projects, from site identification through permitting, interconnection, and project readiness
• Evaluate project feasibility through technical analysis, market assessment, and financial modeling
• Build and maintain relationships with landowners, utilities, regulators, and local stakeholders throughout the development process
• Navigate regulatory compliance and secure necessary approvals across environmental, zoning, and grid interconnection requirements
• Manage your regional project pipeline and drive progress toward development milestones
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to transition projects toward construction
• Identify emerging market opportunities and guide strategic investment decisions for the Central Region

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, with demonstrated success advancing utility-scale solar projects
• Deep understanding of solar development workflows, interconnection processes, and utility-scale project economics
• Proven track record in stakeholder engagement, permitting, and regulatory navigation
• Strong business acumen and ability to evaluate project returns and manage financial risk
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence across organizational functions and external partners
• Willingness to travel within the Central Region as needed for site visits and stakeholder engagement
