The Opportunity

The City of Oak Park seeks dedicated individuals for the Public Service Worker I position within our Department of Public Works. This Grade 9 role is part of the TPOAM Bargaining Unit and offers hourly employment as a non-exempt position. You'll work directly with the equipment, materials, and systems that keep Oak Park's streets and public infrastructure in excellent condition. This position provides hands-on experience in municipal operations and the satisfaction of contributing to your community's quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including loaders, trucks, and backhoes for street maintenance, repair, and construction activities
• Perform equipment maintenance checks and inspections to ensure safe, reliable operation
• Execute a variety of public works tasks including street cleaning, pothole repair, and infrastructure upkeep
• Follow safety protocols and municipal procedures to maintain a secure work environment
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete assigned projects on schedule
