About the Role

As a Principal 3D Animator at Ubisoft, you will take on a leadership role within our animation department, overseeing the creation of high-quality character and object animation for our upcoming titles. This position combines hands-on animation expertise with mentorship and collaborative direction, shaping the visual quality and performance standards across teams. You'll work closely with art directors, technical artists, and game designers to realize the studio's creative vision while establishing best practices in animation production.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead and review animation pipelines, ensuring consistency and quality across all character and environmental animations
  • Create and refine principal animations for characters, creatures, and interactive objects, setting the standard for visual fidelity
  • Mentor junior and intermediate animators, providing feedback and guidance to develop their technical and creative skills
  • Collaborate with game designers, programmers, and cinematics teams to integrate animations into game systems
  • Troubleshoot complex animation challenges and develop innovative solutions using industry-standard tools
  • Participate in art reviews and contribute to animation direction discussions shaping project aesthetics

What We're Looking For

  • Proven expertise in 3D animation software such as Maya, MotionBuilder, or equivalent industry tools
  • Strong foundation in animation principles, character rigging, and motion capture integration
  • Demonstrated experience leading animation teams or mentoring other animators
  • Portfolio showcasing professional animation work for games, film, or interactive media
