Power Trading & Renewables Analytics Internship Program

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential energy trading organization seeking interns for their Power Trading & Renewables Analytics Internship Program in Grenoble. This six-month internship runs from 15 February to 12 August 2027 and offers full-time, on-site experience working directly with front office teams on data-led projects that support commercial decision-making, optimization, and risk management across energy markets.

As an intern, you will:

• Work closely with a front office team on data-led projects within renewables, power or balancing risk management
• Analyze large market, trading or asset-related datasets to identify insights that support commercial decision-making, portfolio management, and systematic trading strategies
• Develop, test or improve analytical tools, models, dashboards or workflows using Python and other relevant tools
• Support optimization under uncertainty, forecasting, predictive modeling, simulation, reporting or risk management activities
• Conduct market research and present findings clearly to technical and commercial stakeholders
• Contribute to day-to-day desk activity, building practical understanding of how analytics supports trading and portfolio decisions

Example project areas may include working with large trading datasets, supporting optimization work linked to renewable assets, and developing Python-based analytical tools or predictive models.

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks motivated, intellectually curious individuals who are keen to apply strong analytical and technical skills to real business challenges in power and renewables markets. You should be comfortable working with data, learning quickly, and collaborating closely with front office teams in a fast-paced trading environment.

Essential requirements:

• Strong academic background in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Quantitative Economics, Finance, Energy Economics or a related STEM field
• Strong Python skills, with the ability to analyze, manipulate and interpret complex data sets
• Strong grounding in statistics, econometrics, machine learning, predictive modeling or optimization, with the ability to apply quantitative methods to practical trading, market or risk problems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and detail-oriented approach
• Evidence of applying data analysis, coding or quantitative methods to a practical problem, gained through academic projects, internships, research, personal projects or other relevant experience
• Demonstrable interest in energy markets, including an ability to discuss relevant industry developments in power, renewables, risk management or commodities trading
• Business-level English proficiency
• Right to work in France for the full duration of the internship (15 February 2027 - 12 August 2027)
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with the confidence to work closely with commercial and technical stakeholders
• Intellectual curiosity, with the motivation to understand how market fundamentals, data and commercial decisions interact

Advantageous skills:

• Experience with SQL, data visualization, advanced modeling techniques or applying machine learning/AI to market, trading or quantitative research problems
• Exposure to optimization, forecasting, time-series analysis, quantitative finance, algorithmic trading concepts or large trade/market datasets
