Platform Software Engineer II

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential entertainment technology organization in their search for a Platform Software Engineer II. Our client operates multiple high-traffic digital properties and is building out their Platform Operations team to enhance developer productivity and internal tooling capabilities.

This fully remote position offers the opportunity to work on platform engineering challenges at scale, supporting engineering teams that serve millions of users. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers to develop tools, services, and automation that make software development and deployment more efficient across the organization.

Approximately 10% travel is expected for periodic in-person team collaboration and planning sessions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain internal platform tools and services with guidance from senior engineers
• Build and enhance backend services, APIs, and data models that support platform capabilities across multiple products
• Develop user-friendly frontend experiences for internal tools using React and Next.js
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following established engineering standards
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, Platform, Infrastructure, and SRE teams to deliver reliable solutions
• Monitor, debug, and troubleshoot applications using logging, metrics, and observability tools
• Support software deployments through CI/CD pipelines and maintain healthy production environments
• Contribute to technical documentation, code reviews, and continuous process improvements
• Participate in on-call rotation with support from senior team members

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Demonstrated programming experience through internships, co-ops, academic projects, open-source contributions, or up to 2 years of professional software development
• Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript
• Exposure to modern web development frameworks such as React
• Basic understanding of REST APIs, databases, and software development fundamentals
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
• Understanding of software testing concepts and commitment to writing maintainable code
• Strong problem-solving skills and desire to continuously learn
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in team environments

Bonus qualifications:

• Internship or project experience building web applications or internal tools
• Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and modern development workflows
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar)
• Interest in developer productivity, platform engineering, or improving engineering workflows
