Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential technology consulting organization working with major financial services clients. In this senior backend engineering role, you will:
- Integrate with development teams to build data platform products and solutions
- Lead the adoption of modern development practices, leveraging AI tools throughout your daily development cycle to accelerate delivery and ensure software quality
- Design and implement backend services using Python and Java
- Develop APIs and microservices within cloud-native, event-driven architectures
- Guide autonomous code agents, audit their output, and create modular tools for safe codebase operations
- Apply Spec-Driven Development (SDD) using rigorous specifications as the engine for automated code generation
- Translate business intent and architectural rules into precise instructions for AI-assisted development
- Engineer test harnesses and isolated scaffolds for autonomous code validation
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Solid backend development experience with Python and working knowledge of Java
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles
- Experience with databases, operating systems, and distributed systems
- Proven track record developing APIs and microservices
- Knowledge of cloud-native, event-driven system architectures
- Software testing expertise: testing concepts, TDD, and testing distributed microservices-based systems
- Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe) and AWS services (ECS, Lambda, StepFunction, CloudWatch, S3, SNS, RDS)
- Experience with SCM tools (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
- Infrastructure as code experience with Terraform
- Mastery of AI-assisted development cycles: interacting with, guiding, and auditing autonomous code agents
- Ability to design agents and create modular tools and capabilities for secure codebase operations
- Practical experience with Spec-Driven Development (SDD) for automated generation
- Understanding of Intent Development concepts, translating business requirements and architectural rules into precise AI instructions
- Harness Engineering experience, designing isolated test environments for autonomous code validation
Nice to have:
- NoSQL database knowledge, particularly DynamoDB
- Experience with analytical data platforms (Hadoop, SAS)
- Kafka experience
- Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift)
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) knowledge
- Generative AI and multi-agent architecture understanding
- AWS observability, logging, and monitoring expertise
