About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential biopharmaceutical client in their search for a Therapeutic Account Manager, Liver to cover the Cincinnati territory. This is a field-based role focused on rare cholestatic liver diseases within a specialized portfolio. Our client is seeking a clinically credible, insight-driven professional who can partner with healthcare providers as a peer, navigate complex accounts, and drive meaningful patient impact.

The ideal candidate is not a transactional seller. You will engage physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary care teams with thoughtful questioning, clinical expertise, and high emotional intelligence. You will develop customized account plans, influence change across health systems and centers of excellence, and coordinate across referral networks to advance disease awareness, appropriate patient identification, and treatment consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a focused territory business plan aligned with regional priorities, clear objectives, and measures of success
  • Identify, prioritize, and develop high-opportunity accounts, health systems, centers of excellence, and referral networks across pediatric and adult hepatology and gastroenterology
  • Create and execute customized account plans that reflect local patient journeys, key stakeholders, clinical decision-making, referral patterns, and access considerations
  • Build trusted relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, and care team members by delivering relevant value and consistent follow-through
  • Communicate complex scientific and clinical information clearly, accurately, and credibly, tailoring discussions to the knowledge and priorities of each healthcare professional
  • Engage healthcare professionals as a clinically credible peer through insightful questions, active listening, and connecting relevant evidence to clinical practice
  • Influence multiple stakeholders without authority, navigate resistance constructively, and balance persistence with judgment and empathy
  • Collaborate compliantly with Market Access and Patient Services partners to help care teams understand available resources and navigate barriers in the patient journey
  • Capture and communicate timely, objective, and actionable field insights that inform strategy, messaging, training, and resource development
  • Partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, and other internal teams to align priorities and ensure consistent execution
  • Maintain accurate customer records, forecasts, expense reporting, and administrative documentation in accordance with company expectations
  • Travel up to 70% within territory, including frequent overnight travel and occasional weekend commitments

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive pharmaceutical or biotechnology sales experience
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently delivering business results in complex specialty, rare disease, orphan drug, or high-science markets
  • Rare disease experience highly preferred; hepatology, gastroenterology, or pediatric specialty care experience highly desirable
  • Strong clinical aptitude and ability to learn, retain, and communicate complex disease-state, diagnostic, mechanism-of-action, and clinical data information
  • Experience with account-based selling across health systems, centers of excellence, multidisciplinary care teams, and referral networks
  • Demonstrated ability to use insight-led or challenger-style selling to constructively challenge the status quo and influence behavior
  • Working knowledge of access and reimbursement dynamics, patient support pathways, and the role of patient services in rare disease markets
  • Strong business acumen and ability to interpret performance data, identify insights, develop strategies, and translate plans into consistent field execution
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, communication, presentation, and judgment; ability to build trust with diverse and sophisticated customers
  • Proven self-motivation, resourcefulness, resilience, organization, and ability to prioritize and perform independently in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
  • Demonstrated success partnering cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, and other commercial teams
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, compliance, and approved promotional practices with sound judgment in complex customer and patient situations
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively within assigned territory
