Patient Care Tech- Med Surg Pediatrics Full Time Days

Position Summary

As a Patient Care Tech in Medical-Surgical Pediatrics at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, you'll be a vital member of our inpatient care team. Working full-time day shifts, you'll assist nursing staff and providers in delivering high-quality care to pediatric patients, while maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment. Your focus on patient comfort and safety—combined with attention to detail and strong communication—makes you an essential part of our healthcare mission.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Measure and record vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate
• Assist patients with hygiene, grooming, and comfort needs
• Help patients with bathing, toileting, and mobility support as directed by nursing staff
• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, equipment, and high-touch surfaces according to infection control protocols
• Transport patients safely, including assisting with movement and positioning
• Respond promptly to patient requests and communicate concerns to nursing staff
• Document patient observations and activities accurately in medical records
• Support clinical staff during patient procedures and examinations

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED required
• Current certification as a Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) or nursing assistant, or ability to obtain within 90 days
• Compassion and patience when working with children and their families
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare setting
• Physical capability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
• Clear communication skills and reliability
