Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is hiring a Patient Liaison for our Internal Medicine department in Chicago, IL. This is a full-time, on-site position focused on improving patient experience and communication within our Internal Medicine services.
Position Summary
As a Patient Liaison for Internal Medicine, you'll serve as a vital bridge between patients, families, and our clinical teams at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. Your role centers on ensuring patients receive clear information about their care, feel heard and supported, and have a seamless experience navigating our Internal Medicine services in our Chicago location. You'll work day shifts in our healthcare facility, addressing patient concerns and questions while building trust and improving satisfaction across our Internal Medicine department.
Core Duties
- Greet and welcome patients and families visiting Internal Medicine clinics, units, and departments
- Answer questions about procedures, treatment plans, and available services within Internal Medicine
- Help patients understand billing information, insurance coverage, and payment options
- Document patient concerns and escalate issues to appropriate clinical staff or management
- Follow up with patients regarding their care experience and satisfaction
- Support clinical staff by managing patient flow and communication needs
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
What You Bring
- Customer service experience in a healthcare or patient-facing environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and empathetic when addressing patient concerns
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems or willingness to learn
- High school diploma or equivalent; healthcare certifications are a plus
- Flexibility to work day shifts and occasional weekends as needed
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
