Senior Editor, Contributors

Versant is seeking a Senior Editor, Contributors for a remote, full-time position based in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. This role leads our contributor editorial strategy, overseeing writing quality, managing contributor relationships, and driving content excellence across our publishing program.

Position Summary

As Senior Editor, Contributors at Versant, you'll manage and develop a network of external writers and subject-matter experts, ensuring their work meets our editorial standards and publishing goals. This is a remote position offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while collaborating with a dynamic editorial team. You'll play a central role in sourcing talent, nurturing contributor relationships, and publishing compelling content that serves our audience.

What You'll Do

• Recruit, vet, and onboard external contributors aligned with Versant's editorial vision and voice
• Review, edit, and provide constructive feedback on contributor submissions to maintain consistent quality and style
• Develop and maintain contributor guidelines, contracts, and editorial workflows
• Collaborate with the editorial team to assign topics, manage deadlines, and coordinate publishing schedules
• Track contributor performance, engagement, and satisfaction to sustain long-term partnerships
• Identify emerging voices and subject-matter expertise to expand the contributor network
• Ensure all published content meets SEO, accessibility, and brand standards

Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of editorial experience, with at least 2 years managing or working closely with freelance contributors
• Demonstrated expertise in copyediting, fact-checking, and content refinement
• Strong ability to manage multiple contributors and deadlines simultaneously
• Knowledge of AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, or equivalent editorial standards
• Experience with content management systems and publishing platforms
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for remote collaboration
• Understanding of SEO best practices and audience-driven content strategy
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
