Paralegal, Compliance

Join Carta's compliance team as a full-time Paralegal, Compliance professional, supporting high-stakes transactional due diligence from Hamilton, NJ, Seattle, WA, or Sandy, UT. In this role, you'll evaluate complex transactions in private capital markets, conducting regulatory assessments that protect deal integrity and ensure client confidence.

Position Summary

This position supports Carta's compliance and transactional due diligence operations. You'll partner with deal teams, investment professionals, and legal counsel to conduct thorough know-your-customer (KYC) evaluations and anti-money-laundering (AML) assessments on complex private market transactions. Your work ensures that fund structures, counterparties, and beneficial owners meet regulatory standards and organizational compliance policies.

Compensation: The annual salary range for this role is $53,635–$67,065 in Hamilton, NJ (approximately $25.79–$32.24 per hour) and $59,945–$74,955 in Seattle, WA (approximately $28.82–$36.04 per hour). Actual salary will be determined based on location, experience, and qualifications. Carta offers equity, comprehensive benefits, and a full-time employment arrangement.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Evaluate transaction structures for counterparty risk, including potential exposure to sanctions, financial crime, and reputational concerns
• Review fund vehicles, special purpose vehicles (SPVs), partnerships, and trust arrangements to identify beneficial owners and control persons
• Request and coordinate documentation from internal deal teams, external legal counsel, and transaction counterparties to complete KYC assessments
• Monitor transactions for compliance with relevant AML/CFT regulations, jurisdictional requirements, and internal compliance frameworks

What You Bring

• 1–2+ years of professional experience or formal internship in legal services, compliance, or financial services
• Working knowledge of legal research, document management, and regulatory requirements
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent written communication and professional interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and shifting priorities without compromising quality
• Interest in private capital structures, international finance jurisdictions, or compliance technology platforms is a plus; relevant certifications (ICA, ACAMS) are valued
