Full Stack Engineer II

We're hiring a Full Stack Engineer II to join our Internal Software Tools team at Inversion in Playa Vista, California. In this role, you'll own the design and development of internal applications that empower our engineering organization to solve harder problems, faster.

Position Summary

As a Full Stack Engineer II, you'll be responsible for building and maintaining the internal software infrastructure that our teams depend on every day. You'll work directly with engineers across the organization to identify friction points, translate loose requirements into concrete features, and ship tools that genuinely improve how we work. This is hands-on engineering work across the entire stack, from database design through user-facing interfaces. You'll report to the Director of Software and be a core contributor to shaping what world-class internal tooling looks like at an ambitious aerospace and defense company.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build internal web applications, dashboards, and engineering tools that support mission-critical workflows across the company.
• Own problems end-to-end: from understanding user needs and technical requirements, through design and implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Develop responsive, intuitive user interfaces tailored to technical users who value clarity, performance, and efficiency.
• Build robust backend services, REST APIs, and integrations that connect internal systems, data sources, and third-party tools.
• Collaborate directly with engineers and technical stakeholders to translate real needs into practical software solutions.
• Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, testing coverage, and long-term maintainability of internal systems.
• Contribute to the roadmap and technical evolution of the Internal Software Tools team.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience building and shipping production software systems.
• Proficiency with TypeScript or JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks, particularly React.
• Demonstrated experience developing backend systems or APIs using Python, Node.js, Go, or similar technologies.
• Solid grasp of software engineering principles: application architecture, testing strategies, debugging, and code maintainability.
• Comfort working in Linux development environments and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments with shifting priorities and loosely defined problems.
• Willingness to work extended hours or weekends when needed to support critical initiatives.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status required to comply with space technology export regulations.
