Join Anthropic as a Safeguards Enforcement Analyst specializing in Age-Appropriate Design. What This Role Involves
You'll design and operate age-safeguarding systems across our consumer products and developer ecosystem. Your work spans building automated detection and verification systems, reviewing enforcement signals, and managing appeals workflows that balance safety with privacy. You'll partner with engineering, data science, legal, and policy teams to create layered approaches combining self-declaration, behavioral signals, verification methods, and appeals. You'll also guide third-party developers and sales teams on age-appropriate deployment through our API. Note: this role involves exposure to sensitive content, with periodic on-call responsibilities.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and scale automated enforcement systems and review workflows for accuracy and efficiency
- Partner with Engineering and Data Science to refine detection models and enforcement systems
- Review flagged content to strengthen enforcement practices and identify policy gaps
- Enforce usage policies with focus on preventing harmful AI misuse
- Work with Legal, Public Policy, and Privacy teams on age-assurance strategies that are proportionate, privacy-preserving, and responsive to regulatory changes
- Advise policy design team with observations and recommendations from enforcement scenarios
- Stay current with AI policy enforcement best practices and incorporate them into our systems
Qualifications
Required
- Background in trust and safety, child protection, age verification, privacy, or related policy
- Expertise in age assurance technology, age-appropriate design, child online safety, privacy-preserving verification, or content systems for young people
- Experience leading cross-functional projects with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Policy teams, navigating safety/privacy/usability tradeoffs
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including COPPA, UK Age Assurance Design Code, Digital Services Act, CSAM/CSEM, and NCII standards
- Informed perspective on privacy and safety tradeoffs—knowing when rigorous verification is needed versus lighter-touch approaches
- Strong written communication; ability to produce clear recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proficiency with data tools (SQL or similar) to measure impact and inform decisions
- Strong judgment and collaborative approach in fast-changing environments
Preferred
- Experience building or operating age-gating flows, age estimation signals, underage detection, or appeals workflows
- Experience advising third-party platforms on safe deployment for younger users
- Familiarity with third-party age verification providers
- Strong interest in AI safety and responsible technology development
- Experience writing and testing prompts for generative AI in enforcement contexts
