About the Role
As a Journey-Level Pipefitter, you'll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex piping systems in a dynamic shipyard setting. This role requires hands-on expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to meeting strict safety and quality standards. You'll work with experienced teams on projects ranging from new construction to vessel maintenance and retrofits.
What You'll Do
- Install, assemble, and modify pipe systems according to engineering specifications and blueprints
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on existing piping infrastructure
- Troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective solutions
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes using appropriate tools and techniques
- Conduct pressure tests and verify system integrity before handoff
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fellow tradespeople to meet deadlines
What We're Looking For
- Valid journey-level pipefitter certification
- Proven shipyard experience—this is required for this position
- Proficiency reading blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong knowledge of pipe materials, fittings, and joining methods
- Familiarity with safety practices and OSHA compliance standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
- Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic
