Center Director

The Center Director role at Save the Children 2022 in Aberdeen, Moore County oversees the daily management of a Head Start/Early Head Start facility, ensuring high‑quality early learning experiences while supporting staff, families, and regulatory standards.

About the Role

As the lead administrator for the center, you will shape program direction, maintain safe and nurturing environments, and drive continuous improvement across all services offered to children from birth to five years old.

What You'll Do

• Direct the overall operation of the center, including scheduling, staff supervision, and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local Head Start regulations, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
• Coordinate classroom coverage and support teachers in delivering developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Monitor child health, safety, and nutrition protocols, conducting regular observations and audits.
• Facilitate family engagement initiatives, linking parents to community resources and program activities.
• Prepare and manage budgets, track expenditures, and report financial performance to senior leadership.
• Lead staff recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and professional development planning.
• Maintain accurate records, prepare required documentation, and support internal and external reviews.
• Represent the center at community meetings, partnerships, and advocacy events.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, social work, public administration, or a related field; master’s preferred.
• Minimum three years of progressive leadership experience in early childhood programs, preferably Head Start or similar.
• Strong knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards and state licensing regulations.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, supervise multidisciplinary teams, and drive program quality improvements.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict‑resolution skills for engaging staff, families, and community partners.
• Proficiency with data collection tools, reporting systems, and office software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits within the service area.
