The Cordell Institute for Policy in Medicine & Law at Washington University in St. Louis seeks a Microsoft Cloud Civil Liberties & Health Policy Research Fellow to join its faculty research team on the Danforth Campus. This full-time research position offers an opportunity to investigate emerging intersections of health policy, civil liberties, and technology regulation.

About This Position

The Research Fellow role supports advanced scholarship examining how civil liberties frameworks apply to modern health policy challenges, with particular focus on Microsoft Cloud technologies and their implications for patient privacy, data governance, and equitable health systems. You will contribute to institutional research initiatives, support faculty-led projects, and help develop policy recommendations that advance both health innovation and individual rights protection.

Core Duties

• Conduct original research on civil liberties dimensions of health policy and cloud technology deployment
• Synthesize literature across law, medicine, technology, and policy domains
• Support faculty research through data analysis, writing, and documentation
• Contribute to policy briefs, white papers, and academic publications
• Participate in institute seminars, discussions, and collaborative research projects
• Engage with policy stakeholders and interdisciplinary partners

Skills & Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in law, public health, public policy, health services research, or related field
• Strong research and analytical capabilities
• Proficiency in written and verbal communication
• Experience or demonstrated interest in civil liberties, health policy, or regulatory issues
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Familiarity with policy research methods and academic writing
