About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a well-funded Series A technology startup in London that is building developer tooling and infrastructure at the intersection of AI and software engineering. This is a product-focused platform engineering role for someone who loves shipping features end-to-end while also diving deep into infrastructure, networking, and deployment architecture when needed.

As an early team member, you'll design and ship product features across the stack while taking ownership of the platform and infrastructure work that arises—from complex networking scenarios to multi-cloud deployments to observability. The team expects you to be AI-native in your approach: building and deploying agents that handle operational toil, spot issues before they become incidents, and automate repetitive work.

This role offers high autonomy in a fast-paced environment. The team is open on seniority level from mid-level to senior—they value trajectory and appetite over years of experience.

Responsibilities

Product Engineering (majority of your time):

• Design and implement new functionality end-to-end, from initial prototypes to production implementations
• Rapidly prototype new capabilities to validate ideas, then develop scalable implementation plans
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to create intuitive user experiences
• Gather requirements from customers and stakeholders, turning ambiguity into actionable plans

Platform & Infrastructure:

• Take ownership of infrastructure work as it arises: AWS estate (EKS/Kubernetes), infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD with GitHub Actions
• Contribute to architecture and implementation of complex networking scenarios including private connectivity and multi-region setups
• Improve developer experience and platform tooling so the entire engineering team ships faster
• Partner with the security team to ensure infrastructure is compliant by default, contributing to ISO 27001 and SOC 2 efforts

AI-Native Automation:

• Build or deploy agentic tooling that autonomously handles alerts and diagnostic workflows
• Create agents that maintain infrastructure health: dependency upgrades that test and merge themselves, pre-diagnosed alerts, self-executing runbooks
• Identify repetitive manual work and convert it into agent-driven automation

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Skills:

• Proven experience as a software engineer with TypeScript/Node (preferred); strong focus on code quality, modularity, and structure
• Genuine interest in platform and infrastructure work backed by hands-on experience with Kubernetes, cloud environments, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD
• Solid systems and networking fundamentals: DNS, TLS, VPCs, firewalls; ability to debug below the application layer
• Demonstrated use of AI coding tools and agents in your own work; excitement about experimenting with AI approaches to transform engineering workflows
• Comfortable in fast-paced, high-autonomy environments; ability to turn loose requirements into shipped work independently

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience self-hosting services, running a homelab, or managing personal infrastructure
• Production AWS/EKS experience or hands-on work with private connectivity, VPNs, or multi-region architecture
• Experience producing infrastructure evidence for ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certifications
• Previous success at an early-stage startup
• Cool projects to share (GitHub links welcome)

Location and Work Arrangement

This role is based in the client's London office in the Kings Cross area. The team requires in-office presence at least three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday).
