(Developmental) Content Editor

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential content marketing agency seeking a freelance developmental editor to review B2B SaaS content. You'll focus primarily on long-form content including thought leadership pieces, with occasional work on social media copy, landing pages, and other formats.

As an editor, you'll play a critical role in ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and help achieve business objectives. Your position sits between writers and copyeditors—while you should be comfortable with line-level editing, your primary focus is substantive editing. You'll evaluate whether content executes the brief effectively, aligns with business goals, resonates with the target audience, and maintains structural and logical soundness.

You'll be assigned to specific client accounts, allowing you to develop deep familiarity with their business, brand voice, and holistic strategy rather than treating each piece in isolation.

Responsibilities

• Review diverse content formats for B2B technology clients, with emphasis on long-form pieces
• Provide writers with actionable feedback ranging from big-picture strategic guidance to detailed inline edits
• Ensure content aligns with client business objectives and audience needs
• Evaluate structural integrity and logical flow of content
• Maintain consistency with client brand voice and strategy across multiple pieces
• Deliver edited content within one business day of assignment
• Balance candor with respect when communicating necessary changes

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Proven experience writing and editing diverse content formats for B2B technology companies, especially long-form content such as blog posts, ebooks, and guides
• Working knowledge of SEO and AEO/GEO best practices (foundational understanding required; expert-level knowledge not necessary)
• Ability to deliver clear, actionable feedback with sound rationale for recommended changes
• Capacity to quickly learn new industries, companies, and products
• Knowledge of and genuine interest in the B2B technology sector and content marketing trends
• Availability for 5-10 hours per week with flexible scheduling

Preferred:

• In-house experience at a B2B technology company
• Background developing and executing content strategies
• Experience managing, mentoring, or coaching writers (formal or informal capacity)

Location: Fully remote (Americas or EMEA time zones)
