Forward Deployed Engineer (Audio & Voice AI)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential audio AI organization in Berlin that is building core infrastructure for voice-enabled applications. Our client's technology processes millions of audio hours monthly and powers voice agents used by leading companies worldwide. We're seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to own the technical customer journey—from discovery and evaluation through production integration.

This role sits at the intersection of GTM, Product Engineering, and R&D. You'll be the technical authority in customer engagements, demonstrating value through rigorous evaluations, integrating SDK solutions into real-time audio pipelines, and translating field learnings into product and research priorities. This is not about executing a playbook—you'll help create it while remaining deeply hands-on. The position is on-site in Berlin.

Responsibilities

• Drive customer deployments by running technical discovery, designing evaluation and deployment plans, and maintaining alignment through production rollout
• Demonstrate value through rigorous evaluations using representative datasets, meaningful baselines, and compelling benchmarks for technical and executive decision-makers
• Move customers into production quickly by integrating and configuring audio technology within voice AI stacks, debugging real-time pipelines, and resolving SDK blockers
• Build a scalable technical GTM engine by turning recurring customer work into standardized workflows, tools, reference implementations, and documentation
• Shape product direction from the field by identifying recurring failure modes, integration friction, and unmet needs, then structuring them into actionable input for engineering and research teams
• Support technical communication through case studies, product education content, conference talks, and product launches

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of full-time experience in a technically demanding engineering role, with demonstrated ownership of complex projects from ambiguous starting points through real-world outcomes
• Hands-on experience with audio, speech, voice AI, audio DSP, or closely related fields—you can reason deeply about audio systems, evaluation data, model behavior, and downstream application impact
• Master's degree in a STEM field such as computer science, mathematics, engineering, physics, or related quantitative discipline
• Excellent communication skills to earn trust with highly technical engineers, explain complex findings to non-specialists, and deliver uncomfortable technical conclusions clearly when necessary
• Understanding of production ML systems including inference, latency, CPU and memory constraints, concurrency, streaming state, reliability, and real-time deployment
• Solid engineering skills with ability to quickly understand unfamiliar systems, write clean and reliable code, and build reproducible tools and experiments—Python required, Rust a plus
• Excellent command of agentic engineering workflows and AI coding tools to accelerate work without outsourcing technical judgment or attention to detail
• Product mindset to recognize recurring patterns and distinguish between customer-specific workarounds and opportunities to improve the product for everyone
• High-agency startup mindset—proactive, comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities, willing to do whatever technically credible work is needed to move important customers forward
