Mechatronics Development Engineer (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential robotics organization in Munich that is scaling rapidly in the autonomous industrial automation space. This is a hands-on Mechatronics Development Engineer role where you'll bridge modular hardware components and real-world applications. You won't be maintaining existing systems—you'll be building, testing, and solving complex technical challenges to create tailored automation setups for end customers.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, wire, configure, and validate peripheral devices and modular mechatronic subsystems from end to end
• Conduct rigorous functional testing and verification of hardware setups to ensure peak performance
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and basic software integration issues using an iterative development approach
• Focus on development and standardization of peripheral devices, moving from custom setups to reliable, repeatable standards
• Abstract complex requirements from multiple sources and translate them into actionable work packages
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Solution Development teams, and customers to deliver scalable solutions
• Identify hardware limitations or bugs, develop modifications to enhance system reliability, and document procedures to streamline deployment workflows

What We're Looking For

• Completed vocational training or degree in Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or comparable technical field
• Initial practical experience in assembling, testing, or troubleshooting mechatronic or robotic systems
• Iterative approach: comfortable with ambiguity, enjoy trial-and-error, eager to find solutions when no manual exists
• Holistic engineering mindset: you understand how your work fits into larger systems beyond immediate tasks
• Growth mindset driven by automation principles, excited to expand skills into requirements gathering and cross-functional collaboration
• Solid foundational knowledge of electrical circuits, sensor integration, wiring diagrams, and mechanical components
• Structured and pragmatic working style with strong ownership mindset and passion for hands-on problem-solving
• Very good English skills (German is a plus)
