Manager I, Engineering – AI Platform – Evaluation & Annotation

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential observability and cloud infrastructure organization seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their AI Platform Evaluation & Annotation team in Paris. In this role, you will:

• Manage and grow a technical team of 4-6 engineers focused on AI model evaluation and annotation systems
• Define the technical roadmap in alignment with broader AI platform objectives and cross-functional teams
• Collaborate with core platform teams to optimize storage and data pipelines for AI workloads
• Build a strong team culture centered on engineering excellence and customer outcomes
• Remain hands-on through code reviews, design reviews, and select coding contributions
• Partner with infrastructure and tooling teams to build evaluation systems from the ground up
• Lead critical technical initiatives around offline and online AI model evaluation, human annotation tooling, and synthetic dataset generation

What We're Looking For

Our client needs a technical leader who combines strong engineering fundamentals with proven people management capabilities:

• Software engineering background with prior experience leading technical teams as a tech lead or people manager
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing engineering teams
• Enthusiasm for early-stage projects with rapid iteration cycles and complex technical challenges
• Track record of delivering high-quality software on schedule while collaborating closely with product partners
• Strong technical foundation spanning backend development, data engineering, and infrastructure
• Commitment to remaining a hands-on technical leader who stays close to the code
• Passion for AI infrastructure and platform engineering at scale
