Manager I, Engineering – AI Platform – Training & Serving

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential observability platform organization seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead their AI Platform Training & Serving team in Paris. This is a hybrid role with a fast-growing team building critical infrastructure for large-scale AI model training and inference systems.

Our client operates a platform that supports AI infrastructure at scale, enabling data scientists and engineers to conduct distributed training and serve models efficiently. This is an early-stage, high-impact project with significant technical challenges to solve.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow the Training & Serving team, directly managing 10+ engineers
• Define the technical roadmap in alignment with AI platform goals and cross-functional team objectives
• Collaborate with core platform teams to optimize storage, infrastructure, and data pipelines for AI workloads
• Build and maintain a strong team culture aligned with engineering excellence and customer focus
• Participate in hands-on technical work including code reviews, design reviews, and some coding
• Partner with applied AI teams and infrastructure groups to build systems from the ground up
• Lead critical technical initiatives around distributed training of foundation models and serving at scale
• Design and improve user experience for AI development workflows

What We're Looking For

• 1+ years of experience leading software engineering teams as a tech lead or people manager
• Strong technical background combining backend, data engineering, and infrastructure expertise
• Hands-on leadership style with continued technical involvement
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams
• Interest in working on early-stage projects with fast iteration cycles and ambiguous problem spaces
• Track record of building strong partnerships across engineering, product, and science teams
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality software on schedule in fast-paced environments
• Experience using AI coding tools in day-to-day workflows with ability to validate and refine AI-generated output
• Bonus: Motivation to push boundaries of AI-enabled software engineering practices
