Machine Learning Engineer – Growth & Personalisation

About This Role

We are representing a confidential global food-delivery and logistics organization seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join their Growth & Personalisation team in London. This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week in the office.

You'll be part of a global engineering team focused on expanding user engagement beyond core restaurant ordering into adjacent verticals like grocery and retail. Your work will directly influence how millions of users discover new shopping experiences through homepage personalization, vertical landing pages, and strategic notifications.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize ranking models for vertical landing pages that determine product and store visibility for grocery and retail categories
• Design blended recommendation models that integrate new-vertical content into an existing restaurant-focused homepage without degrading the core user experience
• Develop personalization systems that translate user behavior patterns into relevant cross-vertical recommendations for services they haven't yet explored
• Contribute to notification targeting strategies, determining optimal message content, timing, and recipient selection to drive new vertical adoption
• Productionize end-to-end machine learning pipelines from experimentation through deployment
• Ship iteratively in a fast-paced environment, testing and refining models based on real-world performance

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3+ years of professional experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist with demonstrable production code contributions
• Strong proficiency in Python with proven ability to write high-quality, maintainable production code
• Hands-on experience with end-to-end model productionization, from training through deployment and monitoring
• Background in personalization, ranking systems, or recommender engines
• Pragmatic approach that prioritizes simplicity and measurable business impact over complexity
• Exposure to causal inference or uplift modeling is a valuable plus but not required
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous problem spaces with high ownership expectations
