About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential technology client in Cambridge that is building AI-powered engineering solutions at the intersection of design, simulation, and machine learning. Our talent team is seeking an AI Workflows Engineer to own the development and delivery of production-grade Python workflows that accelerate product development cycles across engineering disciplines.
This is a hands-on role where you'll serve as the primary developer for AI-powered engineering solutions, working closely with CAD and CAE specialists to build scalable, reusable components. You'll collaborate with product managers and customers to shape roadmaps and drive adoption of workflows that integrate leading AI technologies into real-world engineering applications.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and delivery of AI-powered engineering workflows for specific industry applications, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into the broader platform for scalable adoption
- Act as primary Python developer—define clean interfaces with CAD/CAE specialists, own coding, testing, CI/CD pipelines, packaging, and releases
- Identify and upstream reusable components to the core platform, standardizing solutions across applications
- Stay close to active projects, spot recurring patterns and pain points, and transform them into reusable templates, presets, and best practices
- Engage directly with reference customers and end users to gather feedback and drive workflow adoption
- Contribute to technical documentation, playbooks, and hands-on training sessions
What We're Looking For
Must have:
- Proven experience building and shipping production Python tools in fast-moving, cross-functional teams
- Strong software engineering practices: packaging, testing (pytest), CI/CD, code review, documentation, and version control (git)
- Ability to contribute to technical direction and architecture while remaining hands-on; comfortable integrating external tools and defining clean data interfaces for specialists
- Background in physics, engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Clear, concise communicator who collaborates effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Based in or willing to relocate to Cambridge, UK; role is hybrid with up to 2 remote days per week
Nice to have:
- Industry exposure in automotive, aerospace, energy, or similar sectors; familiarity with product design processes is a strong plus
- Experience with CAD and/or CAE tools
- Familiarity with machine learning libraries (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.)
- Experience with agentic AI orchestration frameworks
