About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential K–12 education organization seeking a Low Elementary Math Teacher (Grades 1–2) to join their remote teaching team. This is a full-time, long-term teaching position starting in September 2026, with a structured curriculum, comprehensive training, and clear pathways for advancement into instructional leadership.
Start Date: September 2026 (onboarding); teaching begins October 2026
Employment Type: Full-Time, W-2 (30–40 hours/week)
Location: Remote (must be U.S.-based)
Language Requirement: Fluent English instruction skills required; ability to communicate professionally in Mandarin Chinese with parents and team members required
Responsibilities
- Teach Grade 1–2 mathematics in live virtual classes using provided curriculum, lesson materials, and instructional frameworks
- Lead engaging, age-appropriate online classes with strong classroom presence, patience, and ability to sustain young learners' attention and participation
- Create a warm, positive, high-expectation learning environment suited to early elementary students
- Grade homework assignments, provide timely feedback, and maintain proactive communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and learning habits
- Demonstrate deep understanding of lesson objectives and common student challenges beyond simply delivering prepared materials
- Participate in training, lesson preparation, and ongoing professional development; receive and apply feedback to continuously improve teaching practice
- High-performing teachers may advance into Grade Leader roles within the first several months, involving teacher mentorship, standard-setting, and grade-level coordination
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Strong mathematics foundation, comfortable with U.S. elementary school math content and beyond; degrees in Education, Child Development, Math Education, Psychology, or related fields preferred
- Fluent, confident English instruction skills
- Professional-level proficiency in Mandarin Chinese for parent communication and internal collaboration
- Meaningful prior experience working with young learners (tutoring, camps, after-school programs, classroom teaching, mentoring); online teaching experience a plus
- Strong service orientation: proactive communicator with parents, students, and team members, not just a content deliverer
- Receptive to feedback, self-reflective, and able to quickly adjust teaching and communication approaches
- Genuine interest in a long-term teaching career with growth potential
- Available during class windows (Pacific Time): Wed–Fri 4pm–8pm, and Sat–Sun 9am–8pm; must be available at least one weekend day
- Able to commit to at least one year (through May 2027)
- Candidates based in or open to relocating to the Bay Area preferred; relocation potential may apply for Grade Leader track between November and January contingent on strong performance
- Bonus qualifications: team lead, mentor, or TA lead experience; math competition background; curriculum design or teacher training experience
Schedule: Approximately 3–6 classes per week (6–12 teaching hours) plus administrative hours for grading, preparation, and parent communication. Total commitment is 30–40 hours per week. Once assigned, your schedule remains consistent week to week except for federal holidays.
