Senior Legal Counsel (Regulatory and Data Privacy)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential global software technology organization seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead regulatory and data privacy initiatives across international operations. In this role, you will take ownership of privacy-by-design frameworks, shaping how data is handled across multiple jurisdictions while ensuring products and operations remain compliant with evolving global regulations.

Day to day, you will:

• Advise cross-functional teams including AI, security, HR, and engineering on data privacy and regulatory compliance matters
• Evaluate product features, global data governance structures, and cross-border transfer mechanisms for privacy-by-design compliance
• Draft, review, and maintain data protection agreements, privacy policies, and terms of service for internal and external use
• Map data flows and technical operations to ensure alignment with coherent global regulatory frameworks
• Research international regulatory developments and prepare clear legal memos and comparative analyses
• Build and improve legal templates, guidance materials, DSAR processes, and knowledge management systems
• Identify and assess legal risks related to emerging technology laws, technical product design, and data processing activities
• Drive process improvements incorporating AI and automation tools to enhance efficiency within the legal function

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• At least 8 years of post-qualification legal experience focused primarily on data privacy, technology law, or digital regulatory compliance
• Substantial experience as in-house counsel advising on privacy and data protection matters within an international technology company
• Proven track record implementing EU data protection regulations including GDPR and ePrivacy into company processes
• Completed university-level law degree
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English
• Demonstrated ability to draft clear, legally sound privacy policies, terms of service, and regulatory risk assessments
