Lead Systems Engineer, MCA – Fleet Innovation & Transformation

Wabtec is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer, MCA – Fleet Innovation & Transformation to join our engineering team in Erie, PA. This is a full-time position where you'll lead technical systems initiatives that power our fleet modernization and transformation efforts.

Position Summary

As Lead Systems Engineer for fleet innovation, you'll architect and oversee complex, integrated systems that drive Wabtec's next-generation fleet solutions. You'll combine deep technical expertise with strategic vision to lead engineering teams, establish systems engineering standards, and accelerate fleet transformation initiatives. This role is ideal for someone passionate about technical leadership and proven in delivering large-scale systems engineering projects in transportation or similarly demanding environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of integrated systems supporting fleet innovation and transformation projects
• Direct cross-functional engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions aligned with business objectives
• Establish technical architecture frameworks, systems engineering standards, and best practices across disciplines
• Identify and resolve technical bottlenecks to accelerate fleet modernization and deployment timelines
• Collaborate with product, operations, and leadership to align technical strategy with business goals
• Mentor engineering teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
• Evaluate emerging technologies and technologies and recommend adoption strategies to enhance fleet capabilities

Who We're Looking For

• Proven leadership experience managing systems engineering initiatives in fleet, transportation, or complex technical environments
• Strong expertise in control systems, automation, and mechanical or electrical integration
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams across organizational levels
• Deep knowledge of systems architecture, design documentation, and technical specifications
• Experience with modern software development methodologies and engineering tools
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent professional experience considered
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with focus on scalability and system reliability
• Strong communication skills capable of translating complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders
