Lead Software Engineer GenAI Enterprise Applications (m/w/d) – Hybrid (deutschlandweite Standorte)

About This Role

We are representing a leading IT consultancy in the DACH region that has made GenAI a top organizational priority. Our client is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to build production-grade AI capabilities into enterprise applications—not just demos or proof-of-concepts, but solutions that handle real business-critical workloads.

This is a hands-on engineering role with client-facing responsibilities. You'll work on project engagements lasting three to six months, integrating AI into existing enterprise landscapes. Expect workshops, travel to client sites (approximately 20–30%), and direct involvement in solution delivery. This is not product development or pure architecture work—you build alongside the team.

Location: Bielefeld and other locations across Germany. Hybrid model with three days remote per week.

Responsibilities

• Integrate AI into enterprise software systems: agentic architectures, RAG patterns, and tool-calling capabilities embedded within established application environments
• Build deterministic control layers around non-deterministic AI components—AI gateways, guardrails, telemetry, and testing frameworks that make AI behavior observable and governable
• Reduce manual handoffs and process gaps by embedding AI where teams currently copy, validate, and rework data manually
• Shepherd solutions from concept through production deployment, including customer workshops and technical support during proposal phases

What We're Looking For

• Deep experience delivering complex enterprise projects, ideally involving microservices or event-driven architectures
• Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot or Quarkus) and/or TypeScript with React, Angular, or Vue
• Hands-on production experience with AI solutions: RAG, tool-calling, or agentic systems—and a clear understanding of separating AI components from core business logic
• Active use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) in your daily workflow, not just experimentation
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms is a strong plus
• German language proficiency at C1 level or higher and very good English
• Willingness to work on client-driven projects with changing engagements and moderate travel
